Learning in this course helped me to achieve the American Association
of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials Domain “6.2 Perform effectively in different
team roles, using principles and values of team dynamics” through practicum and
through participation in the Week 7 Discussion. In the practicum setting, I often
participating in multiple roles to provide efficient, quality care. The roles I performed
included phlebotomy, medical assistant, pharmacist, and nurse practitioner student.
In the direct primary care setting, we were providing comprehensive care to
patients which included lab draws, diagnostic testing, and medication dispensing.
Understanding what it takes to perform each role allows me to appreciate the
complexities of patient care and the value of having someone for each role.
Learning to respect each individual and the role they plan in improving patient
outcomes is an essential aspect of advanced nursing practice
